ANOTHER MAN’S BLUES
Got up today glad that it was Friday
As I grabbed my hat and headed off to work.
I don’t ever need to worry about my pay.
I’m not talking about the dollar in my shirt.
Now I don’t mind living in New England.
Though the temperature is dropping awfully low.
There’s a foot of snow, the roads ain’t fit to bring me
Anywhere I’d care to go.
When I got to work my boss told me I was late,
He didn’t seem to notice it had snowed.
I tried real hard to find a smile on his face,
But I don’t believe he’s ever heard of those.
Now I don’t mind living in Massachusetts
Though the taxes here are getting awfully high
There’s an open road ahead if I should choose it,
By and by, by and by.
Well that was about all that I could take,
So I told him just exactly where to go.
He informed me that the water was frozen in the lake
And he proceeded to escort me out the door.
Now I don’t mind collecting unemployment.
All my friends say to get it while you can.
So much easier having no appointments
Anytime anywhere.
Got up today glad that it was Monday
I’m looking forward to beginning my new job.
The new boss appears to be very friendly
As he tells me that there’s room at the top.
Now I don’t mind working for a living,
Though no matter how you figure it you lose.
But the time here will put what I’ve been given
Into use, into use.
