THE ROAD
Start out going straight from your school
Down your chosen street
Never be anybody’s fool
Follow your own beat.
The Road could get rough up ahead
Maybe even end
Not knowing what to expect
After the next bend
But it would not be so hard to accept
If I knew
All the things I have come to expect
Myself to do
Would come to
You’ll run into all kinds along the way
Don’t let them, pull you in
But remember what your father had to say
Just be your own man
But it would not be so hard to accept
If I knew
All the things I have come to expect
Myself to do
Would come to
When the day finally comes that you arrive
Stop and take a look
Back on all the things that meant survive
Along the road you took
The miles have a way of adding up
And you never even know
And it seems that the farther you get
The more you have go
But it would not be so hard to accept
If I knew
All the things I have come to expect
Myself to do
Would ring true
